• Family engagement is defined as the mutual responsibility of families, schools, and communities to build relationships to support student learning and achievement and to support family well-being and the continuous learning and development of children, families, and educators.  Family engagement is fully integrated into the child’s educational experience and supports the whole child and is both culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate.  TAC§102.1003

Pre-K Expectations

  • As the new school year begins, we feel it is important to make you aware of the expectations of your child in regard to our curriculum.  Our Pre-K students have higher expectations this year than previous years.  These higher expectations are set so that your child will be successful when they enter Kindergarten. Listed below are some the skills your child is expected to master by the end of the school year.

    • Upper Case Letters
    • Lower Case Letters
    • Letter Sounds
    • Colors
    • Shapes
    • Count to 30
    • Recognize and name numbers 0-10
    • Recognize and write their name

With all the skills that must be learned, your help at home is essential. As time permits, please sit and spend some time with your child going over some of the skills.

Periodically, progress reports will be sent home listing your child’s strengths and weaknesses on skills that have been taught. It is important that we work together in order to ensure a successful Pre-K year and, more importantly, successful entry into Kindergarten.
