Within each school year, all students need to be taught Digital Citizenship, which includes Internet safety, appropriate online behavior, and cyberbullying. This is a requirement by CIPA (Children's Internet Protection Act), which is a federal law enacted by congress to address concerns about access to offensive content over the Internet. Additionally, Tex. Educ. Code § 28.002(z)(2) requires each school district to incorporate instruction in digital citizenship into the district's curriculum, including information regarding the potential criminal consequences of cyberbullying.
This year, there are only two steps to complete this process:
1. Present the slideshow with embedded videos below, and discuss with your students to check their understanding and answer questions.
